How to Store and Use Dried Herbs

Herbs should be stored in tiny, sealed containers after being crumbled with your fingertips

(discard the tough midribs and leaf stalks). To prevent the herbs from losing their color, keep any

transparent glass containers you use in a dark spot. When it comes time to cook, keep

in mind that drying intensifies the taste, reducing the amount required in recipes.

For this reason, it's critical to consider the conversion of fresh to dried herbs. For

instance, substitute one teaspoon of dried herbs for one tablespoon of fresh herbs in a dish.
